Marika and Tamien

Story

German-born Marika had experience renovating properties all over the world and was hoping to find a brand new project in the county of Kent. Having left Britain 30 years ago with her late husband to set up an advertising business in Germany, Marika was looking forward to moving back to the UK to be closer to son Tamien and his family.

However, whilst Marika loved the idea of waking up everyday to a sea view, she was raised in a countryside setting and had very fond memories of country life. With no idea which to choose, Marika bought along her son Tamien to help make a final decision.

With a budget of £385,000 their requirements included decent sized garden and a renovation project.

Marika made offers on 2 coastal properties- a Coast v Country first! An offer of £385,000 was made for a renovated 1930’s property looking straight onto the beach, on the market for £399,995. Despite no work needing to be done, Marika couldn’t resist the stunning sea views this property had to offer. Unfortunately the vendor was looking for a little bit more money, so Marika left her offer on the table.

Marika was successful, however, in purchasing the renovation project of her dreams situated in the coastal town of Winchelsea. With a stunning pebble beach just a 5-minute walk away, the location was perfect. On the market under budget at £315,000 with lots of land and potential for renovation, this was the large-scale project Marika had been yearning for. Intending to knock the property down and begin again with her own creation, Marika offered £270,000 for this property and it was accepted.
